Are you content and satisfied with your life? With your job?
For the most part, I am.
I’m living a lifestyle that I want. My wife and I both work from home. I do web design, social media, and email marketing for my clients. I also make money through my blogs and my self-published books. My wife tutors high school and college students in math.
We used our skills to build a bridge to the life we wanted to live.
My wife can pick which students or math courses she wants to work with.
I can decide what type of work I do and with whom.
But that wasn’t always the case. She worked for years at a local high school and I worked various corporate jobs until 5 years ago.
There is nothing wrong with working within the education system or corporate America. If you are in either of these sectors and like it, God bless you and keep on keeping on.
When It’s Time To Leave
What if you don’t? What if you want to go out on your own but you don’t know how to to it.
Don’t jump and hope the net will appear.

We typically think it has to do with the “Arts” during the Renaissance but that isn’t the case.
We can use our day jobs to fund our dream jobs.
To build that bridge to where you want to go takes some planning. You need to know where you are, where you want to go, and ascertain that you have the skills and abilities to get there.
Use Your Background and Skills
For my wife, she has a degree in math education and was a high school math teacher. The transition from a full-time math teacher (who also did 5-10 hours of tutoring a month on the side) to a full-time math tutor was an easy one. She asked for her name to be put on the County’s list of tutors and asked friends and clients for referrals.
For me, my last corporate job was designing and maintaining a corporate website and handling their email marketing. I had been working my sideline job at ESGgraphics for 5 years before I went full-time.
What if you could start working on your side business starting TODAY?
To start a business you need a product or service and customers/clients.
What skills or background do you have that you could use to create a business?
Building A Bridge To Your Future
No matter what they are, you will need to get a website up and put words on that site.
In his recent book, Building a StoryBrand, Donald Miller tells us that “pretty websites don’t sell things. Words sell things.” (emphasis mine).Pretty websites don’t sell things. *Words* sell things. Donald Miller Click To Tweet
